Facial muscular retraining is a technique used to treat individuals who have palsies resulting from injury to facial nerve. The facial nerve innervates the muscles that create facial expressions. Therapy sessions involve working to identify and isolate weak or tight muscles and developing a program to minimize related complications. Recommendations will be provided regarding eye care, activities to address lack of facial symmetry and exercises to strengthen re-innervated muscles.
